February Glam Bag

I am so excited to unbox my February Glam Bag!! One of my favorite You-tubers is Michele Phan, a beauty guru! She recently formed a company called MyGlam, which is a subscription service that sends out the Glam Bag. The Glam Bag is a cute little makeup bag, that changes every month. It is filled with 5 or 6 deluxe samples, regular samples, and sometimes even full size beauty products that the MyGlam team of stylists picks out for their subscribers to try. For only $10.00 a month it's no surprise that it sells out quickly! The February Glam Bag is the third glam bag to be sent out and the first that I have been able to receive. I was so excited when I got it in the mail! When I opened up the packaging this is what I saw!
The bag!
It is so cute! I love the hot pink with black hearts combo! What did I find when I opened up the cute pink with black hearts makeup bag that I love so much? The first thing I saw was a sample of X Out Shine Control. The X Out skin care line was created by the same people that brought you Proactive. This particular sample is an oil free moisturizer that actually gives your skin a matte finish. This is nice because it can also double as a primer for your foundation.

The next thing that came out of the bag was a full size NYX roll on shimmer. The NYX roll on shimmers come in just about every color you can imagine; and not everyone got the same color. The shade I got is salmon. It is a really pretty peachy gold tan color with subtle hints of pink. If you want to use this product by itself on your eyes, I recommend using an eye primer first, it will help the glitter stay on your lids better!

I wish my camera would have picked up the colors better!
The next thing I saw was a sample of the Premier Dead Sea Cinderella Mask. The sample comes with two packets. One is a Biox Anti-Aging Complex and the other is an Instant Stretching and Revitalizing Mask. Also, inside the little pink pouch they came in is a card that tells you if you like them on Facebook, you will be entered into a contest to win a $1000 shopping spree, so that's pretty nice! I don't know much about the Premier skin care line, but the description card says that it is luxury skincare rich in life-enhancing minerals from the Dead Sea waters.

The next thing I pulled out of the makeup bag was another sample facial mask. This particular mask is by Freeman Feeling Beautiful. It is a Facial Enzyme Mask in Pineapple. The front of the package says that it restores radiant skin. The back of the package says this enzyme mask, with pineapple extract and AHAs, gently efoliates while it lightly moisturzes, leaving your skin soft, supple, and younger looking. I can't wait to try this!

OK, so I have this minor, well major addiction to chocolate. I am sure there are many other people with this same problem. It is a curse, I know, but sadly we just have to live with it I guess. So you can imagine how I must have felt when I pulled out the next thing from the bag. This months bag contained a sweet treat with a note. It says:
Dear Glammies,
Here's a sweet surprise with love from San Francisco! Enjoy these decadent delights!
xoxo,
The MyGlam Team
Ghirardelli Chocolate
They were so nice to help feed my addiction with two peices of Ghirardelli chocolate. One milk chocolate and one dark chocolate! Now that I am finally posting this blog and have taken pictures of everything in the glam bag, I can enjoy these two treats! Seriously people, these things have been in my apartment for two weeks and I have not touched them yet, because I haven't had time to write this post. If you know me at all, you know how difficult that is for me to do!

I thought that was everything, but I almost missed this card that was in the bag. Let me tell you I, was super excited about this one when I found it! It is a $100 gift certificate to put towards any professional styling tools and hair extensions at NuMeOnline.com. Since I really need a new hair dryer, this came at a perfect time! Now I just need to remember to use it before it expires!

Overall, I love this Glam Bag and I can't wait until I get the March one! If you want to learn more about the Glam bags and MyGlam check out the web site http://www.myglam.com/. It's really easy to sign up, all you have to do is take a style quiz and there's no obligation to subscribe and if you choose to subscribe you can cancel at any time. I'd say for $10 a month, it's worth a try to see if you like it! Talk to you all soon! I'm going to go and enjoy my chocolate now! :)

Spring Is In the Air

Spring is in the air! Well, maybe not so much. It is only February after all. How do I help myself beat the winter blues? With nail polish of course! I've never been a stickler for beauty rules, and by that I mean I almost never follow the color rules. You know dark colors in the winter, jeweled tones and dark colors for fall, light and pastel for spring, and as bright as you can get for the summer. I just wear what I want when I want because it makes me happy! As much as I love the winter, February hits and I start to find it dreary. It's a total downer and I like to think that I am a generally upbeat person. Since I have to wear a uniform to work, there isn't much I can do to boost my mood in the wardrobe department, but I can paint my nails for that little bit of color I crave. So when I start to feel those winter blues, the dark polishes get shelved and the fun colors come out! It's proven that bright or pastel colors almost always lift your mood. Around this time of year I like to remind myself that spring is just around the corner. Two colors that are perfect for that are Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in Mint Sorbet and Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in Lacey Lilac. They are beautiful! The Mint Sorbet is this really pretty mint green color, almost a sea foam green, but a little brighter. The Lacey Lilac, is this gorgeous pastel purple. They kind of remind me of Easter eggs. They have a creme finish and you will probably need two coats, well I did at least. As a top coat I like to use Sally Hansen's Insta Dry in Clearly Quick to give it the glossy effect that I love! Here are pictures of what each one looks like!

See I told you they look like Easter egg colors! Easter eggs are perfect little reminders that spring is here and summer is not too far behind! Now if these colors aren't enough to boost your mood and you just need something more, go for a really bright summer color, like a hot pink or an orange, maybe even a yellow, if you're brave enough! Trust me it works!! :) Happy painting!

Valentine's Day isn't just for Couples

Valentine's Day isn't just for couples. You can be single and enjoy it too! "No, I don't think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That's what's wrong with you. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how." Probably one of the many favorite lines I have from Gone With the Wind. Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh, two beautiful people, playing out a classic love story. I mean there's war, loss, and hardship, a torrid love affair, over coming said hardships and loss, a doomed marriage that should have worked because Scarlett and Rhett were meant for each other, but ultimately it could never last, because they were both too strong headed to realize what they had until it was too late. In the end Scarlet realizes this only as Rhett is walking out on her, and her last words are that she will win him back at Tara, her home, the place that gives her the strength to fight. It's so completely tragic and romantic at the same time, which is what makes it so amazing. Now at this point it might be pretty obvious that, well let's face it, I am a hopeless romantic, which is why I watch this movie over and over again, in fact it's probably how I will spend my Valentine's Day. A glass of wine, a bowl of popcorn, and Gone With the Wind, sounds ideal! Now some people might think that's a horrible way to spend Valentine's Day, drinking wine and eating a bowl of popcorn by yourself while watching a movie that is just under 4 hours long, yikes! Honestly though, it is music to my ears. Valentines Day is about sharing time with that special someone right? Well, if you are lucky enough to have that special someone, then go celebrate, it's what you should be doing! What about those singles out there though? What are you going to be doing? Let's face the hard reality of it, if you're single you probably hate this holiday, but ask yourself why? Is it really because you think it's just another "Hallmark holiday" and that if you really love someone you should be finding ways to show them everyday not just one day out of the year? Or is it because you really just wish you had someone to spend it with? I've been there, I know it sucks being alone on Valentine's Day, especially if all your friends have dates. I've been single for a while now and the best Valentine's Day I have ever had was the the year after my ex and I broke up. Sounds crazy right? You might be asking how is that possible? Well, I decided that instead of sitting around and brooding over being alone on Valentine's Day for the first time in about seven years, that I didn't need a special someone, I could be my own special someone! So what did I do? I pampered myself! After work I turned my bathroom into a spa of sorts. I took a relaxing bath, gave myself a pedicure and manicure, did my hair, put on my most comfy pjs, made an amazing dinner, and after watched Gone With the Wind with a bowl of popcorn and a glass of wine. It was the most perfect night I had had in a long long time! Why is that? Because doing all of that for myself, made me feel amazing and beautiful and happy! Although I usually change up the movie, the routine has been the same for the last three years. And even though it would be nice to have a special some to share Valentine's Day with, I don't mind sharing it with myself because it gives me time to reflect on all of the other wonderfully special things I have in my life!
